Easter Baskets and Giveaway from A Toy Garden
It’s time to think about building Easter baskets. We’ll sow some wheat grass seeds in our Easter baskets on March 14 or so and let the grasses grow up until Easter Sunday. They make a lovely soft bed for pretty eggs.
In addition to fruits and flowers, the Easter Bunny always brings a few presents for our boys and I’m looking for the perfect items for this year. I bought two handmade gnomes from Eve’s Little Earthlings on Etsy and they’re awesome. A small bit of chocolate is always in order, but not too much because there’s always plenty of Easter candy at family celebrations.
I think we need some new modeling beeswax, since ours melted all together while sitting in a sunny window. And a book for each boy, of course. And shiny metallic crayons.

Our favorite tradition is making our own natural dyes and dyes our multi-colored chicken eggs. It is a tremendous art project and you never know how they are going to look in the end. Each year we try the ones we remember loving (like turmeric for yellow) and we try something new!

This may sound silly but I always looked forward to dressing up for Easter Sunday. As a girl I had white gloves, patent leather shoes and a big brimmed lacy hat. Sometimes I dress up my boys in a suit, but it’s not quite the same. Maybe I should get myself some white gloves this year 🙂

i have a few, i love that we use the same baskets year after year… some people don’t and that is so strange to me. and a good old fashioned egg hunt. i did them growing up and my folks even did them for my bro and i even after we were well beyond easter egg hunting age, it was always so much fun. so dh and i cont the tradition. dh usually gets up early and hides the eggs inside and outside, a few dozen of them. then the kiddies are set loose. one year our dog got a hold of them and must have ate 6 or 7 eggs that were hidden in the yard. lol

Our favourite tradition will be dyeing and decorating real eggs! My 2 year old LOVES eggs so I know she is going to be so excited this easter!

Our morning Easter egg hunt, followed by opening up the Easter baskets! The kids have fun seeing who can find the most eggs and the eggs that were hidden in the weirdest places!

I love to hunt for eggs with my daughter and am so excited that my son will be old enough to join us this year. She also gets something to plant in her basket and helping her grow something of her very own is by far one of my favorite traditions.

Our favorite tradition is dyeing our chicken eggs am then the hunt the next day. Our daughter loves this! So fun to watch. I like the growing your own grass idea we might have to try it!

My favorite Easter tradition was always getting all dressed up and going to church with my grandparents. I loved spending that time with them and now I get to see my girls doing the same thing with them and it is even more special.

Our favorite Easter tradition is to make an Easter garden. We just planted our grass seed and it will start growing. By Easter time we will have a lovely little garden sitting on our nature table.

We love decorating eggs. i used to love to do the natural dyes, but my kids love the bright colored rainbow eggs…with sticker and glitter. 🙂 i would love to try doing the leaf prints with the natural dyes one day, they are so pretty. i LOVE a toy garden. So many wonderful things. 🙂

My favorite Easter tradition is decorating hand blown eggs for the Easter egg tree. My best friend’s mom has eggs on her tree that their family have made over the past 30 years. It is so fun to look at them all and see the changing generations; my best friend’s older brother made a Darth Vader egg when he was young, and much later her nephew made a Darth Maul egg. Some of the eggs we have made are so beautiful, and some of them are silly. It’s a great tradition of gathering friends and family and sharing creativity and joy.
