Preparations

We’ve been working today, getting ready for Asher’s birthday tomorrow. The bunting I made is hung, the pillowcase I sewed for him is done, the birthday crown I decided just yesterday to make for him is done but for the final fitting and seam. The cake is baked and cooling, and it will be ready for decorating tomorrow morning.

I took a ton of photos today, but here are a few of my favorites.

Thanks, Kelly! Oh what a day it was, when Asher was born! And what tribulations we went through afterward. It all served me very well in the end, though, because it taught me just how precious life is and how happy I am to be living it with my family and friends. xoxo

Thank you! So nice of you to stop by! Honestly, the bunting is a perfect project for a beginning sewer (sewist? seamstress?) like me. Lots of straight seams for practice and pretty colors to keep me motivated! Much thanks to Amanda Soule’s book The Creative Family for the instructions.

Has anyne told you lately that you are a fantastic Mother? Everything you do has SO much love put into it that I wonder when it is that you find the time to sleep or eat? If I ever grow up and have children of my own, I can only hope that I’m as half as good as you are with your brood.

And that photo of your sleeping boys – SO precious. (It tugged more than a little on my heart-strings and I realized I had gotten more than misty-eyed when I noticed my keyboard was wet.) <3

Oh Alex, thank you for saying that! It’s so easy for me to get stuck contemplating all my failings and flaws, lack of patience and presence. You are very liberal with the compliments and they mean a lot to me! And if you should decide to become a parent, I know you’ll be a fantastic one!
