Baby News: Can You Say Déjà Vu?

Here we go again.

Once again I have a “ruptured bag of waters” as of 1 a.m. this morning. That means the clock is now ticking and I have to go into real labor within 72 hours or we have to go to the hospital. Had the same panicky “Oh-my-God-am-I-suddenly-incontintent?” fears this time as with Lucas’s birth. But the mighty microscope has confirmed I am not repeatedly peeing my pants. Thank the gods for small mercies.

At the moment, I’m not having labor contractions. I’m not in crisis mode. I’m lucid and amused that this is shaping up to be a similar experience as last time. However, there’s no cause for concern yet. Midwife says 85% of women go into labor naturally within 24 hours of their water breaking. Let’s hope I’m in the “normal” category.

Now I’m in a weird space. Doing little tasks to prepare: finally packing my bag of things to take to the Birth Center (Don’t forget diapers!), writing in LJ, contemplating the chapters I’m supposed to be editing today, etc. I’m feeling a bit distracted, however. Ian’s at work trying to finish writing a paper that’s due on Friday.

There’s a list of things for me to do (that might help start labor) and a list of things NOT to do until the babe’s safely out. I’m hoping to avoid the Castor Oil Concoction of Disgust this time around. Wish me luck.

I won’t ask you to light your candles yet. Hopefully sometime today/tonight though.

P.S. My dad has today’s date in the baby pool. I sort of always assumed this baby would be born on Imbolc (Feb 1 or 2) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imbolc) since Lucas was born on May Day. He may yet …

Wow! Wow! The countdown has begun!

I hear nipple stimulation is good for inducing labor. I won’t give any suggestions as to how that could be accomplished since I see this isn’t a locked entry. 😉

Best of luck, lady. Hope it comes at the right pace for you and is as painless as possible. And hey, enjoy the non-castor stimulating activities while trying to egg things on..;)

Oooh! I vote for Feb 2nd. That’s my birthday, too! Though, I’m sure you’d rather move along and not have to wait that long. Still, it would be neat if we shared a birthday. ^_^

    Good luck!

It better not take until Sunday!

I think Tox said exactly what I wanted to, so I’ll just piggyback on what he said. 🙂
