Adventure Day!
Last weekend we had a marvelous Adventure Day! Featuring … grandparents and SCIENCE! We met up with Ian’s dad, Glen, and his girlfriend, Miriam, and we all drove to San Francisco to visit the Exploratorium and nearby SF sights. If you ever get the chance to go to the Exploratorium, seize it.
“So why don’t all exhibits have scientific explanations?
The Exporatorium is about discovering things for yourself. We want to spark your curiosity not just give you facts. That’s why you won’t find explanations at every exhibit. Facts and explanations are important, and you will find them here. But finding things out by experimenting, by playing around, is what science is all about. So mess about. Explore your hunches. Follow your curiosity. See what happens.”

*chuckle* I still remember a slightly more ‘adult’ trip to the Textile Dome that we did a number of years back. Were we both on that trip? I can’t recall..

What GREAT photos!! I went to the Exploratorium with a boyfriend once and we intended to spend a few hours there, then do other SF things. We left because we became suddenly starving only to realize we’d been in there for eight hours 🙂 Love that museum!

Thanks for your comment, Alyss. It was a marvelous day. It was so rewarding to see the boys enjoying themselves so much with hands-on science. You’re right. You can lose track of time there easily!

Yes, Cherylyn! A fantastic time! But it was the Tactile Dome, baby, not a “Textile Dome.” You have textiles on the brain. 😉

When I was ten, my family spent the summer traveling around the States by train. During our stop in San Francisco, we went to the Exploratorim. I have never forgotten that day. I can’t wait to take my own kids. Must do that the next time we visit my husband’s family in the Bay area. So glad to see it is still such a magical place!

Thanks for your comment, Lucia. What an amazing adventure you must have had! It sounds wonderful. The Exploratorium is well worth it! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it even more when you see your children discovering and exploring the exhibits there.
