Craft Aspirations

Anybody ever done any silk dying or painting? I want to learn how to do it. I found a lot of info on this site: http://www.dharmatrading.com/silkpainting/dyes-vs-paints.html

But when it comes to learning stuff like this, I learn so much better by watching/assisting someone or at least muddling through with another beginner by my side.

Silk scarves have become an important plaything around here (a la Waldorf). They are wonderful and infinitely useful. Unfortunately, they’re rather expensive, particularly the plant-dyed ones, which come in more natural colors.

Anybody game to try it with me?

We’ve done some silk dying here with the kids. It’s pretty simple really. The results are pretty pleasing to the kids even if they aren’t super-careful or artistic about putting the dyes on. With a little adult care in the application I’m sure they’d be even nicer. I’m pretty sure we still have the dyes around – we just did it a few months back.

Yeah what my husband said, and to add, I have also done some dying with natural dyes, and have 10 yards of white silk that I need to cut up and dye sometime soon, so I am deffinately game.
