Quote of the Day

Franz Kafka

"You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet."

I like it when the world rolls in ecstasy at my feet.
This also makes me feel a little better about being a reluctant shut-in.
I’ve never read any Kafka, have you?

I read several short stories of his. As I recall, the general form was:

I am miserable and didn’t think I could be more miserable and then something bad happened made me more miserable and then someone got mad at me even though it wasn’t my fault and now I am miserably content in my misery.

Did he write “Metamorphosis”? If so, yes. It was depressing as hell. There was no ecstatic rolling. Just a big hit with a chunk of apple.
